I am a photographer and photography instructor plus being a dad, brother, son, uncle, and grandfather. I took photography classes in high school, quickly found my passion, and decided to go to college to become a photography teacher. I’ve been teaching photography classes for 30+ years, everything from Intro (darkroom) to portraiture, infrared, toy cameras, pinhole, studio lighting, fine art, and more.
Since travel and photography are a perfect match, I travel as much as possible, hoping to add new portfolio images from each trip. I also lead photography trips during the summer months, typically to places like Italy, France, Switzerland, Greece, Ireland, England, and others. More on this at www.eurofoto.info
In my teens, I discovered the beauty and unique qualities of B&W infrared film and began focusing on this for most of my “personal” work. Many of the images seen here were made on infrared film. Today, I also make digital infrared photographs. Captured and created with film or pixels, I can make prints in the darkroom or modern archival pigment prints.
All prints are entirely handmade and finished by me, then matted using acid-free archival museum board and materials. Prints are available from 5×7 or smaller, up to 16×20 and larger. Each print is signed and dated by hand.
I feel very fortunate to call San Diego my home. The weather here makes it an ideal place to spend most of the year, and if I feel a need for a change, I can just hop on a plane. Beyond photography and travel, I also like to hang out with family and friends, bike, and try new foods, restaurants, or anything chocolate.
