elcome to the website for the San Diego City College EuroFoto Program, Summer 2006.

This trip is designed to give participants college credit for three or more photography courses (7+ units). We will meet in May for pre-travel photographic discussions, lectures, and assignments. We will travel to both coasts of Italy, Austria, Prague, and then on to Paris.

We will discuss and study units on film selection, lenses, night shooting, infrared, color, black and white, environmental portraiture, landscape, and much more. Upon our return to San Diego, you will have the opportunity to spend several weeks printing in black and white or digital in the City College darkroom and digital lab. The culmination of the class will be portfolios ready for an exhibition.

The final itinerary and cost could change slightly, somewhat contingent upon the size of the group and how soon everyone gets involved. The sooner we finalize our travel "group", the lower the cost, mostly due to potential airfare hikes for (peak) Summer travel. Also, those who enroll early will have a greater vote on final itinerary items.

Morning, noon, and night, we will be exploring and photographing large cities, small towns, famous museums, back-alleys, and the people and cultures in all these places. Many days will be planned with group tours and activities in the morning, leaving afternoons and evenings free to explore individually or in small groups.

Unlike many European Tours, we will NOT spend the majority of our time staring at the back of a motorcoach headrest while trying to see nine countries in nine days. This adventure has been planned for the photographer, with ample time in most areas to explore the back streets and more. This will allow each of us to bring home a better individual sense of each city or region along with a more representative and in-depth portfolio of the area, its people, sights, surroundings, and our personal and emotional response to each.
